Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2021, there were 1,786,596 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Illinois and they represented 14.08% of the total population of Illinois in 2021. Cook County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (1,176,240), followed by Will County (83,681), and St. Clair County (77,349). On the other hand, Calhoun County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (25), followed by Edwards County (33), and Scott County (34).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Alexander County had the highest percentage (30.49%), followed by St. Clair County (30.34%), and Pulaski County (29.64%).
