Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2022, there were 1,766,621 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Illinois and they represented 14.04% of the total population of Illinois in 2022. Cook County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (1,153,726), followed by Will County (84,846), and St. Clair County (76,488). On the other hand, Calhoun County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (28), followed by Scott County (34), and Henderson County (35).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Alexander County had the highest percentage (30.88%), followed by St. Clair County (30.32%), and Pulaski County (29.68%).
