Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2011, there were 592,178 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Indiana and they represented 9.09% of the total population of Indiana in 2011. Marion County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (244,268), followed by Lake County (124,347), and Allen County (41,977). On the other hand, Warren County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (17), followed by Ohio County (21), and Martin County (21).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Marion County had the highest percentage (26.81%), followed by Lake County (25.12%), and St. Joseph County (12.6%).
