Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2012, there were 597,181 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Indiana and they represented 9.13% of the total population of Indiana in 2012. Marion County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (248,013), followed by Lake County (122,459), and Allen County (42,348). On the other hand, Warren County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (14), followed by Ohio County (19), and Martin County (24).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Marion County had the highest percentage (26.96%), followed by Lake County (24.81%), and St. Joseph County (12.62%).
