Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2016, there were 621,447 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Indiana and they represented 9.36% of the total population of Indiana in 2016. Marion County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (263,624), followed by Lake County (115,754), and Allen County (42,730). On the other hand, Warren County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (24), followed by Martin County (33), and Ohio County (35).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Marion County had the highest percentage (27.87%), followed by Lake County (23.8%), and St. Joseph County (12.92%).
