Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2023, there were 683,244 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Indiana and they represented 9.96% of the total population of Indiana in 2023. Marion County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (279,924), followed by Lake County (116,683), and Allen County (45,046). On the other hand, Warren County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (36), followed by Ohio County (52), and Martin County (52).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Marion County had the highest percentage (28.9%), followed by Lake County (23.31%), and St. Joseph County (13.28%).
