Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2012, there were 92,944 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Iowa and they represented 3.02% of the total population of Iowa in 2012. Polk County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (27,335), followed by Scott County (11,802), and Black Hawk County (11,388). On the other hand, Adams County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (8), followed by Davis County (12), and Van Buren County (15).
