Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2020, there were 1,393,650 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Michigan and they represented 13.84% of the total population of Michigan in 2020. Wayne County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (681,212), followed by Oakland County (172,671), and Macomb County (112,818). On the other hand, Keweenaw County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (9), followed by Ontonagon County (16), and Schoolcraft County (44).
