Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2021, there were 1,387,600 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Michigan and they represented 13.82% of the total population of Michigan in 2021. Wayne County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (673,541), followed by Oakland County (173,558), and Macomb County (115,391). On the other hand, Keweenaw County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (6), followed by Ontonagon County (20), and Schoolcraft County (44).
