Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2013, there were 1,111,032 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Mississippi and they represented 37.16% of the total population of Mississippi in 2013. Hinds County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (173,575), followed by Harrison County (45,998), and DeSoto County (39,892). On the other hand, Tishomingo County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (504), followed by Issaquena County (881), and Itawamba County (1,426).
