Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2020, there were 1,110,494 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Mississippi and they represented 37.54% of the total population of Mississippi in 2020. Hinds County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (165,036), followed by DeSoto County (57,754), and Harrison County (53,247). On the other hand, Tishomingo County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (496), followed by Issaquena County (802), and George County (1,789).
