Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2012, there were 695,828 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Missouri and they represented 11.55% of the total population of Missouri in 2012. St. Louis County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (235,477), followed by Jackson County (159,787), and St. Louis city (154,802). On the other hand, Scotland County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (3), followed by Schuyler County (6), and Mercer County (7).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, St. Louis city had the highest percentage (48.45%), followed by Pemiscot County (26.5%), and Mississippi County (24.13%).
