Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2011, there were 1,139,208 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in New Jersey and they represented 12.90% of the total population of New Jersey in 2011. Essex County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (310,942), followed by Union County (113,952), and Camden County (95,004).
