Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2015, there were 37,532 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in New Mexico and they represented 1.80% of the total population of New Mexico in 2015. Bernalillo County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (16,534), followed by Doña Ana County (3,191), and Curry County (2,772). On the other hand, Harding County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (6), followed by De Baca County (7), and Mora County (13).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Curry County had the highest percentage (5.51%), followed by Lea County (3.63%), and Otero County (3.39%).
