Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2019, there were 39,807 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in New Mexico and they represented 1.90% of the total population of New Mexico in 2019. Bernalillo County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (17,751), followed by Doña Ana County (3,495), and Sandoval County (3,069). On the other hand, Harding County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (3), followed by De Baca County (9), and Mora County (15).
