Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2014, there were 2,127,831 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in North Carolina and they represented 21.41% of the total population of North Carolina in 2014. Mecklenburg County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (315,147), followed by Wake County (203,738), and Guilford County (170,330). On the other hand, Graham County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (24), followed by Mitchell County (75), and Clay County (94).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Bertie County had the highest percentage (61.81%), followed by Hertford County (59.98%), and Northampton County (58.02%).
