Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2012, there were 1,558,186 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Virginia and they represented 19.03% of the total population of Virginia in 2012. Richmond city had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (105,675), followed by Norfolk city (103,143), and Fairfax County (102,203). On the other hand, Highland County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (10), followed by Craig County (11), and Dickenson County (58).
