Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2016, there were 1,605,306 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Virginia and they represented 19.07% of the total population of Virginia in 2016. Fairfax County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (110,078), followed by Richmond city (109,613), and Norfolk city (101,226). On the other hand, Highland County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (15), followed by Craig County (15), and Dickenson County (67).
