Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2018, there were 1,625,608 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Virginia and they represented 19.10% of the total population of Virginia in 2018. Fairfax County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (113,754), followed by Richmond city (107,856), and Norfolk city (99,416). On the other hand, Highland County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (18), followed by Craig County (19), and Dickenson County (64).
