Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2023, there were 1,665,083 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Virginia and they represented 19.10% of the total population of Virginia in 2023. Fairfax County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (117,065), followed by Henrico County (100,524), and Prince William County (99,116). On the other hand, Highland County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (21), followed by Craig County (24), and Dickenson County (95).
