Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2018, there were 62,715 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in West Virginia and they represented 3.47% of the total population of West Virginia in 2018. Kanawha County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (13,617), followed by Berkeley County (8,675), and Raleigh County (5,819). On the other hand, Tyler County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (22), followed by Calhoun County (24), and Clay County (25).
