United States Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone Population By State in 2012

Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2012, there were 38,763,472 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in the United States and they represented 12.35% of the total US population in 2012.

Texas had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (3,027,689), followed by Georgia (3,021,393), and Florida (2,999,446). On the other hand, Montana had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (4,939) followed by Vermont (6,471), and Wyoming (6,765).

When it comes to the percentage of each state's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, District of Columbia had the highest percentage (48.48%), followed by Mississippi (37.07%), and Louisiana (32.04%).
