United States Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone Population By State in 2018

Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2018, there were 40,898,768 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in the United States and they represented 12.51% of the total US population in 2018.

Texas had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (3,449,719), followed by Georgia (3,313,743), and Florida (3,308,210). On the other hand, Montana had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (5,553) followed by Wyoming (6,100), and Vermont (7,773).

When it comes to the percentage of each state's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, District of Columbia had the highest percentage (45.04%), followed by Mississippi (37.47%), and Louisiana (32.30%).
