Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2012, there were 27,035 hispanics or latinos (of all racial backgrounds) in South Dakota and they represented 3.24% of the total population of South Dakota in 2012.

Minnehaha County had the highest number of hispanics or latinos (7,712), followed by Pennington County (4,715), and Beadle County (1,509). On the other hand, Haakon County had the lowest number of hispanics or latinos (15), followed by Sully County (16), and Hyde County (16).

When it comes to the ratio of hispanic to non-hispanic population, Marshall County had the highest percentage (8.46%), followed by Beadle County (8.38%), and Jerauld County (4.96%).
