According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2016, the net domestic migration for Iowa was -5,564. Dallas County had the highest net domestic migration (2,562) followed by Polk County (2,396), and Warren County (717). On the other hand, Iowa had the lowest net domestic migration (-5,564), followed by Black Hawk County (-1,498), and Story County (-832).

Net Domestic Migration for a given county refers to the the difference between number of people moving to the county from other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and number of people moving out of the county to other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico).
