According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2021, the net domestic migration for Montana was 20,370. Flathead County had the highest net domestic migration (4,033) followed by Gallatin County (2,928), and Yellowstone County (2,192). On the other hand, Richland County had the lowest net domestic migration (-237), followed by Rosebud County (-197), and Big Horn County (-132).

Net Domestic Migration for a given county refers to the the difference between number of people moving to the county from other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and number of people moving out of the county to other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico).
