According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2016, the net domestic migration for New Mexico was -7,157. Sandoval County had the highest net domestic migration (1,554) followed by Santa Fe County (483), and Los Alamos County (280). On the other hand, Lea County had the lowest net domestic migration (-1,941), followed by Bernalillo County (-1,686), and San Juan County (-1,063).

Net Domestic Migration for a given county refers to the the difference between number of people moving to the county from other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and number of people moving out of the county to other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico).
