According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2019, the net domestic migration for Virginia was -8,892. Loudoun County had the highest net domestic migration (3,616) followed by Chesterfield County (2,994), and Stafford County (2,815). On the other hand, Fairfax County had the lowest net domestic migration (-14,107), followed by Alexandria city (-2,683), and Virginia Beach city (-2,631).

Net Domestic Migration for a given county refers to the the difference between number of people moving to the county from other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and number of people moving out of the county to other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico).
