New Mexico Net Migration By County in 2017
According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2017, the net migration for New Mexico was -5,331. Sandoval County had the highest net migration (1,944) followed by Santa Fe County (705), and Los Alamos County (477). On the other hand, Lea County had the lowest net migration (-1,734), followed by San Juan County (-1,497), and Bernalillo County (-1,163).
Net migration for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county. Or to put it simply, the net migration for a given county is the inbound migration minus the outbound migration for that county.
