Virginia Net Migration By County in 2012

According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2012, the net migration for Virginia was 42,251. Loudoun County had the highest net migration (7,477) followed by Fairfax County (6,626), and Prince William County (5,411). On the other hand, Newport News city had the lowest net migration (-1,548), followed by Virginia Beach city (-1,015), and Mecklenburg County (-777).

Net migration for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county. Or to put it simply, the net migration for a given county is the inbound migration minus the outbound migration for that county.
