According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2023, the net migration rate per 1,000 population for Alaska was -4.83. Petersburg Borough had the highest net migration rate per 1,000 population (18.24), followed by Aleutians West Borough (12.49), and Matanuska-Susitna Borough (10.98). On the other hand, Kusilvak Borough had the lowest net migration rate per 1,000 population (-43.79), followed by Lake and Peninsula Borough (-36.93), and Bristol Bay Borough (-32.67).

Net migration rate for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county per 1,000 of the county's mid-year population.
