According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2020, the net migration rate per 1,000 population for Montana was 9.25. Broadwater County had the highest net migration rate per 1,000 population (38.43), followed by Mineral County (31.01), and Wheatland County (26.77). On the other hand, Blaine County had the lowest net migration rate per 1,000 population (-25.62), followed by Treasure County (-22.99), and Big Horn County (-19.15).

Net migration rate for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county per 1,000 of the county's mid-year population.
