According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2020, the net migration rate per 1,000 population for New Mexico was 1.86. Catron County had the highest net migration rate per 1,000 population (38.15) followed by Lincoln County (13.11), and Sandoval County (11.84). On the other hand, De Baca County had the lowest net migration rate per 1,000 population (-32.81), followed by Hidalgo County (-20.7), and Curry County (-14.06).

Net migration rate for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county per 1,000 of the county's mid-year population.
