According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2016, the net migration rate per 1,000 population for South Dakota was 5.33. Custer County had the highest net migration rate per 1,000 population (23.32), followed by Lincoln County (20.1), and Lake County (19.94). On the other hand, Buffalo County had the lowest net migration rate per 1,000 population (-37.74), followed by Hyde County (-35.33), and Corson County (-23.94).
