Based on data from the CDC, the overall number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Benzodiazepines in the US in 2021 was 6,306, and the age adjusted rate per 100,000 persons was 4.2. These overall values was based on data from 33 jurisdictions (i.e. states and DC).

Among all states with data, Pennsylvania had the highest number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Benzodiazepines (706), followed by Massachusetts (562), New Jersey (502), and Ohio (495).

In terms of the age-adjusted rate of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Benzodiazepines per 100K persons, West Virginia had the highest (16.6), followed by Connecticut (8.4), and Massachusetts (8.1).
