Alcohol Consumption Per Capita Of West African Countries in 2016

Updated on February 10, 2019.

In 2016, Nigerians drank more alcohol per person (13.4 litres) than any other country in West Africa. There was no data on Mauritanias (possibly because Mauritania is nearly 100% Muslim).

Ivorians and Burkinabes also had a relatively high alcohol consumption in excess of 8 litres per person.

Alcohol consumption per capita is based on projections for the amount of alcohol consumption (litres of pure alcohol) per person ages 15+ per year. This data was collected from the World Bank.
