Illinois Household Income Distribution in 2021 (ACS-5Yrs)

Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, among the 4,930,255 households, there were 498,297 households (10.11%) that had a household income that fell in the $200K - and Over category, and there were 418,667 households (8.49%) that had a household income that fell in the $150K - Less $200K category.

On the other hand, there were 1,385,126 households (28.09%) that had a household income that fell in the Less $40K category, and there were 351,333 households (7.13%) that had a household income that fell in the $40K - Less $50K category.

The chart below shows a subset of the percentages of households for the different household income categories. The table below shows both the number and percentages for many more household income categories.
