Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the percentage of White Alone households in South Dakota with household income of less than $40k was 27.92%. Among all South Dakota cities and places with a population of at least 10K, Vermillion city had the highest percentage of White Alone households with household income of less than $40k (40.83%), followed by Mitchell city (38.21%), and Huron city (37.82%).

On the other hand, the following 3 cities had low percentages of White Alone households with household income of less than $40k: Brandon city (14.65%), Box Elder city (19.52%), and Sioux Falls city (26.86%).
