Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the percentage of Black or African American Alone households in Maryland with household income of less than $40k was 27.40%. Among all Maryland counties, Garrett County had the highest percentage of Black or African American Alone households with household income of less than $40k (66.00%), followed by Somerset County (61.64%), and Kent County (56.30%).

On the other hand, the following 3 counties had low percentages of Black or African American Alone households with household income of less than $40k: Charles County (14.55%), Anne Arundel County (18.26%), and Carroll County (18.28%).
