Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the percentage of Non-Hispanic White Alone households in West Virginia with household income of less than $40k was 39.87%. Among all West Virginia counties, McDowell County had the highest percentage of Non-Hispanic White Alone households with household income of less than $40k (63.68%), followed by Clay County (54.70%), and Mingo County (54.23%).

On the other hand, the following 3 counties had low percentages of Non-Hispanic White Alone households with household income of less than $40k: Jefferson County (21.54%), Berkeley County (26.73%), and Putnam County (28.35%).
