Among all North Carolina counties, Gates County had the highest percentage of households with household income of $40k - $49k (13.84%), followed by Hertford County (13.07%), and Chowan County (12.78%).

On the other hand, the following 3 counties had low percentages of households with household income of $40k - $49k: Tyrrell County (3.82%), Jones County (6.11%), and Currituck County (6.15%).
