Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the percentage of households in North Dakota with household income of less than $40k was 28.99%. Among all North Dakota counties, Sioux County had the highest percentage of households with household income of less than $40k (50.42%), followed by Eddy County (45.77%), and Benson County (40.55%).

On the other hand, the following 3 counties had low percentages of households with household income of less than $40k: Billings County (18.03%), Burke County (19.60%), and Renville County (19.91%).
