Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the percentage of households in Tennessee with household income of less than $40k was 34.36%. Among all Tennessee counties, Hancock County had the highest percentage of households with household income of less than $40k (58.66%), followed by Lake County (56.59%), and Scott County (52.19%).

On the other hand, the following 3 counties had low percentages of households with household income of less than $40k: Williamson County (12.63%), Wilson County (22.33%), and Rutherford County (23.39%).
