Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the Poverty Rate for the Black or African American Alone racial group in New Jersey was 16.65%. Among all New Jersey counties, the Black or African American Alone racial group had the highest poverty rate in Cumberland County (27.43%), followed by Salem County (24.76%), and Atlantic County (23.76%). On the other hand, the Black or African American Alone racial group had the lowest poverty rate in the following 3 counties: Somerset County (6.73%), Middlesex County (8.82%), and Morris County (9.14%).
