Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the percentage of American Indian and Alaska Native Alone households in the United States with household income of less than $40k was 41.45%. Among all US states and DC, South Dakota had the highest percentage of American Indian and Alaska Native Alone households with household income of less than $40k (63.73%), followed by Kentucky (60.02%), and West Virginia (58.48%). On the other hand, the following 3 states had low percentages of American Indian and Alaska Native Alone households with household income of less than $40k: Maryland (27.29%), Virginia (28.35%), and California (29.50%).
