Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the Poverty Rate for the American Indian and Alaska Native Alone racial group in the United States was 23.4%. Among all US states and DC, the American Indian and Alaska Native Alone racial group had the highest poverty rate in South Dakota (49.12%), followed by Montana (34.91%), and Mississippi (33.61%). On the other hand, the American Indian and Alaska Native Alone racial group had the lowest poverty rate in the following 3 states: New Hampshire (7.08%), Virginia (10.71%), and Illinois (12.85%).
