Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, 1,178,059 out of 10,239,341 Texas households received Food Stamps or SNAP in the last 12 months (i.e. 11.51% of Texas households).
By Race: As a percentage of the total number of households that received SNAP or Food Stamps, the White Alone racial group constituted 53.22%; the Black Alone racial group constituted 22.33%, and the Two or More Races racial group constituted 12.76%.
By Ethnicity: As a percentage of the total number of households that received Food Stamps or SNAP, the Non-Hispanic White Alone ethnicity group constituted 23.29%, and the Hispanic or Latino of All Races ethnicity group constituted 50.14%.
Percentage of Each Racial Group's Households that Received SNAP: 9.10% of White Alone households received Food Stamps or SNAP; 20.07% of Black Alone households received SNAP; and 16.56% of Two or More Races households received SNAP.
