According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in February 2004, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Detroit-Warren-Dearborn, MI was 183.4 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 4.1%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Household energy: 10.8%
  2. Alcoholic beverages: 5.3%
  3. Food away from home: 4.2%
