According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in June 2005, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Detroit-Warren-Dearborn, MI was 189.6 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 3.7%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Household energy: 17.3%
  2. Motor fuel: 8.7%
  3. Food away from home: 4%
