According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in March 2005, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, CA was 199.2 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 4.0%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Motor fuel: 8.2%
  2. Rent of primary residence: 7.1%
  3. Owners' equivalent rent of residences: 6.3%
